Kateřina was born in America, but comes from Czech heritage on her father's side. She is extremely passionate about her culture and has worked hard over the years to stay in touch with it. She has joined multiple Czech clubs and attended many Czech/Slovak events in the different cities she has lived in over the years. She has additionally taken Czech classes to improve her speaking skills whenever they are available to her. She has also worked hard to go back to Prague almost every year she has been in college. Last year she was able to stay almost the whole summer studying Czech history, art and language at Univerzita Karlova. Katrina hopes to compete in order to share her passion with other Czechs and Slovaks and to encourage everyone watching that it is never too late to explore your culture.

When not exploring her heritage Kateřina works at a marine mammal rescue center in the cape. She is completing her degree in Marine Science at Boston University and she hopes to continue working with marine mammals in the future. In addition, Katrina is a triathlete and has been competing on the triathlon team at BU since her freshman year. Kateřina believes strongly in living her life to the fullest and one of her favorite quotes is “dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today.”
